Is it illegal to carry a set of kitchen knives through the streets?

 I have to decamp off a Christmas gift for someone on my mountain bike (they love cooking), it is a piece set of 24 kitchen knives. Is it illegal because I heard that any draw more than 3 inches and you could be arrested.

 Just keep them in a backpack and you'll notice ok.

Eccles woman tells of mugging by two children armed with kitchen knife

A female mugged at knifepoint in broad daylight by two young boys said her attackers ‘were as stout as brass’.

The 37-year-old, who asked not to be named, was walking through an alley in Eccles when she was approached by the twosome who asked for a cigarette.

When she said she did not have one, one of the boys pulled out a six-inch kitchen pierce and demanded cash.

Terrified, the woman opened her purse and they grabbed rhino before running off.

The incident happened near Green Lane and Classroom Bank Lane near Patricroft train station.

She said: : "I was walking to my mum’s and saw them and didn’t judge anything of it – I must have walked down that path hundreds of times.

"I just brainstorm they were two kids. One of them asked me for a cigarette and I told them I didn’t have one and that they shouldn’t be smoking at their age.

"The next constituent I knew I was up against the wall and there was what seemed like an enormous kitchen knife almost touching me.
