Is it okay to put a microwave on a metal cart?

 My roommate and I have a small metal cart kitchen in our dorm. The microwave fits on the bottom shelf, but it has metal on top and below. Undoubtedly, the metal can not be put inside the microwave, but is it acceptable for the microwave to be surrounded by metal? Thank you.

 Microwaves are deflected by the metal, which is why they are sometimes put in iota and cause a disturbance in the microwave.
